Happy Surprises

I was sick for a few days so it was difficult to really draw anything. I'm also beginning to think I have joint or something else issues in my drawing hand. My hand tends to tense up and cramp a lot easier than it used to. Maybe I should get my sister to check it out when I go to visit her.

We had a graphic design field trip today,we had to draw the front of a local elementary school for a winter greeting card contest the Board of Education has every year. Everyone is focusing on the new extension of the school. I decided to focus on the front entrance. I'm not expecting it to be chosen. I just don't think the extension looks good for a greeting card. When I got off the bus ho-ho! Who do I see sitting outside?! LEX ! He was visiting Loreli and company. I was so glad to see him! It was definitely good to hear about how he's preping his business for the booth at the upcoming anime convention! I am inspired by his business, hopefully I can get some similar success with my comics. Hopefully he reads this. (If by chance you are Lex, I wish the best for you and your business! May you have much success in the future! Your hard work will pay off!)

Here's some stuff that accumulated since the last time I updated:

Traditional Art and Some Photos

My friend Kristoffer wanted to see some more traditional art from me so I figure I'd photograph some stuff from my portfolio. So here is some stuff.

Cubism Study

Glass Study

Crosshatching Study

Nature Study

Shoe.

I'm not happy with them because they were "forced" so to speak. I'd much rather do a traditional non-cartoon style picture at my leisure. -but whatever. It's for college applications.

Here's a doodle I did when I procrastinated 4 days in class, instead of drawing a wheel in 45 minutes. Because she thought I was "at an advantage, and I should take my time" soooo I did this.

My headphones finally bit the dust. After 3 pieces of tape,I can no longer save my babies.
I had to gave and get a new pair of headphones. But these were my maybe...4th pair of iPod ear buds.I will miss them. However,I will not miss the stares from the excessive tape job.

Rocco's 1st Birthday was yesterday. Time flies! He even has two teeth!

Also I made "shameless self promotion cards" (aka business cards) now I guess I need to get a business card holder to store them.

New Notebook Brings New Art

So pretty much, I'm just waiting for 6 am to just start my day and go to my first day of school. This year I have high hopes for this year. I ran into my teacher from Drawing I & II today, she told me to keep my old portfolio pieces for AP evaluation. I didn't even bring up and she was just like "SAVE YOUR STUFF FOR ADVANCE PLACEMENT ART." woah. Really? I guess I have two teachers on my side for AP Art, I don't remember which art class I'm even taking this year. I think I'm taking Graphic Design. I lost my grip on photoshop and I really miss using the Macs at school. I'm not gonna lie. I'm a total mac dork. I got my back to school supplies a few days ago. I also got a small spiral sketch book. I always dislike sketch books. -because I love certain pages but I loathe others. I also hate it when people constantly take it out of my bag or off my desk without asking. I don't mind people flipping through my book, but FOR THE LOVE OF MELCHIOR ASK. I also hate sketch books because they make me antisocial sometimes. I just go off into another room and just zone out and draw. -but other times I draw infront of people. It's like a show or something, but I am never really that pleased with the results 100% of the time. For about every 5 drawings I love 2. I hate the other 3. It annoys me. I want to change how I draw so much. I am sick of drawing the same poses.

Here's an old sketch from last year:

This was a drawing practice from Sophomore year. Draw a self portrait without looking or picking the marker up...I think the one on the right I looked.

I went to the library and I saw this:

Yeah.

I'm going to do it.
